  Your Board of Directors
With the merger of the Folsom Softball Club and FGSA several new board positions were added to support the recreational program. Rec and Comp Committees were created, and the two operate independently with oversight by the Executive Committee.  The existing FGSA board members were appointed to the new Rec Board positions.  Next summer half of all Board positions will be up for election with the remaining half up for election in 2011.  Take a look at the About Us page on the web site to see how we are set up.  Minutes from the Board meetings as well as Treasurer's reports are available on the Docs/Links page.
The next board meeting will be on Monday, Oct 12th at 7pm at the Round Table Pizza on Riley. You are welcome to attend.

  10U Scott

The Scott 10s team did well in several tournaments this summer and are continuing their success into the fall with a full roster and strong coaching.

  12U Parks
The Freedom-Parks began their competitive season in June as a 10B team. They enjoyed two 1st place wins at the Stars of Cordova and GSSA tournaments, and ended the summer placing 17th of 42 teams at the 10B ASA Western Regional tournament. They went on to compete in two "A" tournaments, taking 1st in both. With four 1st place wins in 10B/10A tournaments, the team took a few weeks off to train with the bigger 12” ball and prepare for 12U tournaments. They will compete in their first 12U tournament on October 10-11th at the IFA Home Run Harvest tournament.

  12U
Nicosia
After a great summer season a few girls moved on to soccer and cheer which left vacancies on the Nicosia team.  After holding two open tryouts the team has a full roster again and has been getting ready for their first tournament for the fall season.

Being a Successful Sport Parent (part 2 in a series)

Team USA Coach Mike Candrea
Being a great sport parent is really easy if you can follow some simple guidelines.

Encourage but be realistic. As a parent our job is to encourage our kids to work hard, be a good teammate and understand that there is a commitment involved in being a part of a team. The most important element is being realistic about your child's abilities and allow them to be who they are and not who you think they should be. They must find the desire to be successful in sport from within. Setting a blueprint for them in life that they do not buy into can set both of you up for failure.
