Great Response to the Fall Skills Clinic.   Thanks!
We had a great turn-out for the first Folsom Softball Club skills clinic, held in October.  Coach John Bilbao and his 16U California Grapettes team donated their time to run an exciting and challenging softball clinic. Players were grouped by age and learned the fundamentals of throwing, catching, and hitting. Coach John's team ended the day with an impressive hitting demonstration.    Check out the pictures here.

  10U Scott
10U Scott took 1st place in the I.F.A. Canned Food Classic tournament Nov 7th-8th in Sacramento. The girls pounded out 55 runs against their opponents, winning their first tournament. This talented young team posted an impressive 13-12-1 record during the fall season.

  12U Parks
The Fall 2009 12U Parks team, consisting of girls 10 and 11, moved up and competed in three 12U tournaments during the later part of the fall season, after they placed 1st in four 10U tournaments and 17th at the 10U Western National Tournament in Salem, Oregon. They competed well at the 12U level, experiencing a few game wins and learned a lot about what is expected at the next level of competition. Players for the Spring 2010 12U Parks team will be selected after the Dec 5th tryouts. The girls will be conditioning during the months of Dec-Feb in preparation for the spring season. Go Freedom!

Being a Successful Sport Parent (part 3 in a series)

Team USA Coach Mike Candrea
Being a great sport parent is really easy if you can follow some simple guidelines.

It is not about you.  A common problem in youth sports is the parent living their life through their child. Let your son or daughter enjoy the experience and provide constructive feedback after games and practices that will help them understand the process. The game always looks easier from the stands! Failure is a major part of the game and the ability for you to teach your child how to handle failure and move forward is your greatest challenge! Just remember to always encourage and not discourage!  See USA Softball player Jessica Mendoza's perspective on " Parents Giving Feedback."
