Folsom Softball Club ASA Umpire Program

Starting in 2010 we are building a strong umpire program in Folsom.  Our program is open to youth in the 6th to 12th grades.  No prior experience is necessary as you will be trained and certified by ASA. Check out the details here,  and if you're interested, contact FSC Umpire in Chief, Janna Brown at janna@ljbrowngroup.com   Deadline for the 2010 season is January 7th as the training program begins January 9th.  For the 2010 season we have over 25 youth currently signed up.
 

• Please note that umpires must be ASA certified prior to working any season games. 

• Training sessions are open to all umpires EXCEPT the specific Senior Umpire training.  These sessions are specific to our senior umpires and non-senior umpires should not attend, unless invited (although you are welcome to observe).

Umpires as well as Sr. ASA umpires calling games. 
FSC Umpire-In-Chief, Janna Brown, partnered
with Roseville Girls Softball to train our youth umpires. 
Our girls were fortunate to be trained by the top
umpire program in Northern California. 
We want to congratulate these youth who completed
the requirements and earned their ASA certification.

• Required 

  • Indicator - Umpires will need to go to a sporting goods store and purchase their own indicator. Examples

  • Umpire Tee Shirt - Umpire tee shirts will be compliments of Folsom Softball Club as our inaugural year with our umpiring team!!!
     

• Recommended

  • Timers - As we have had such a terrible problem with timers, it is advised that umpires, particularly advanced juniors and Senior umpires, purchase their own timer (timer should be a basic stove timer that times down and alerts once time has expired) and carry it with them at all times.  It is difficult to use your cell phone or a watch if it does not have a clock down with an alarm at expiration.

  • Sweatshirt (Optional) - Umpire sweatshirts are available for $20 (Contact Janna). An umpire sweatshirt is the only outer clothing allowed to be worn OVER your umpire shirt; otherwise, your umpire shirt will have to go over your non-umpire sweatshirt when working games.
